Rankki (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension and associated website services collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Etsy market research tools.

By installing and using the Rankki Chrome Extension, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

To provide you with our analytics services and securely manage your Pro license, we collect and process the following types of information:

A. Account & Billing Information When you purchase a Rankki Pro license, we collect the email address associated with your purchase and your assigned License Key. Note: All payments are securely processed by our third-party merchant of record (Polar.sh and Stripe). We do not collect, see, or store your credit card numbers or raw financial data.

B. Device & Technical Data To enforce our standard licensing limits (maximum of 3 active devices per license) and prevent unauthorized key cloning, we collect:

  • Your IP address (used temporarily for security rate-limiting and fraud prevention).
  • A generated Installation ID.
  • An anonymized Hardware Fingerprint (a secure hash based on basic, non-identifiable system capabilities like CPU cores, memory limits, and browser graphics data). This cannot be used to identify you personally outside of our license management system.

C. Browsing Data (Strictly limited to Etsy.com) Rankki is designed to analyze publicly available market data. The extension only activates and reads page data when you are browsing etsy.com. When active, the extension reads public listing IDs, shop names, and on-page metrics to fetch relevant historical analytics from our database. We do not track your browsing history on any other websites.

D. Locally Stored Data Your specific extension preferences (such as your dashboard position, target highlights, and master on/off switch) and your “Saved Listings” are stored strictly locally on your computer’s browser using localStorage. We do not sync, read, or store your private saved listings on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to operate, secure, and improve Rankki:

  • To Provide the Service: Fetching accurate sales estimates, views, and analytics for the Etsy public listings you are currently viewing.
  • License Verification: Authenticating your Pro key, managing your active device slots, and ensuring your subscription is active.
  • Security & Fraud Prevention: Detecting abusive API scraping, preventing key sharing, and temporarily blocking IPs that generate too many failed login attempts.

3. Information Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data or browsing habits to third parties. We only share necessary data with trusted service providers required to operate the extension:

  • Polar.sh: Used to manage your subscription status, process billing, and handle secure webhooks when your plan changes or renews.

4. Data Security & Retention

We implement industry-standard security measures, including SSL/HTTPS encryption, to protect the transmission of data between your browser and our database.

  • Temporary Logs: IP addresses logged for failed login attempts are automatically cleared from our security tables after 24 hours.
  • Device Management: If you manually click “Reset” or “Logout / Remove Key” in your Rankki dashboard, your specific device fingerprint and IP tracking data associated with that installation are permanently wiped from our active database.

5. Your Rights and Control

You have full control over your active sessions and data:

  • Unlinking Devices: You can instantly unlink all computers and wipe your hardware fingerprints from our database at any time by using the “Reset” button in the Rankki website dashboard.
  • Local Data Deletion: You can delete your saved listings and preferences simply by clearing your Chrome browser data or uninstalling the extension.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our tool or Chrome Web Store policies. We will notify users of any significant changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
